The dicephalus twins

This morning at work, my co-worker and I were speculating about the dicephalus twins who came to live in Indonesia early this Month. We were trying to figure out if the two heads have two different brains and if they function simultaneously since they are conjoined by one body. Meanwhile, the topic seem to go beyond our ken. Our insufficient scientific knowledge drew us to no near conclusion at all. Now I am still wondering, not about the condition of the twins because I already know it is terrible, but about the two separate heads carry by one body. Brain have a lot of nerves in it, and some of those nerves are connected to the body or at least they help the functionality between the body and the brain. For example pituitary gland is a gland that produce and release hormones into your body. I am wondering how the body would recieve and react to such information from two different brains.

A lot like how phone lines carry conversations, I was thinking nerves will carry the messages from the brain to the body and from the body to the brains, so to speak in this case, the two brains will recieve the message at the same time therefore will react simultaneously. This cripy idea freak my friend out. I don’t remember what his claim was, but he object to it.
